Dorine’s Loc Journey: 1 Year Loc'd
One year into her loc journey, Dorine’s locs are developing beautifully—and her coily curly ends deserve a moment of their own!
I started Dorine’s journey on September 17th, 2025, with 88 SMedium 2 Strand Starter Locs and free parts. With 7 maintenance appointments with Works by Paige, we’ve had the opportunity to care for her locs as they develop while continuing to maintain her curly ends.

Coily Curly Ends, Beautifully Maintained
One of my favorite features of Dorine’s locs is her coily curly ends. Her coils bring texture, fullness, and personality to her look, complementing the developing locs along the shaft.
Her ends are well moisturized and well trained, showing the care that goes into maintaining them. When I describe curly ends as “trained,” I’m referring to the ongoing care that keeps the loose ends detangled, healthy, and encourages their natural curl definition.
Maintaining curly ends is an intentional part of the journey. As the shaft continues to loc, we give the ends their own attention so they can remain loose and defined. Dorine’s journey is a beautiful example of embracing a coily curl pattern and allowing it to be part of the finished look.
One Year of Growth
The first year brings so much change, and I love watching each client’s locs take on their own character. Dorine’s free parts and coily ends give her locs a look that is uniquely hers.
Happy 1 Year Loc Anniversary, Dorine! Thank you for choosing me to start your journey and care for your locs throughout this first year. It’s been a pleasure watching them grow and develop. 🤎
